Follow the White Rabbit draws inspiration from the 1999 film The Matrix to create a narrative and build a movement language for the work. The work explores two main topics: perseverance and technology. Coming out of a pandemic and living in a world that felt so dark and restricted by rules, I wanted to showcase the drive and determination it took to get to this point. Technology has become an essential component of our society; our world has become even more dependent on our devices to stay connected. Instagram ads seem to know what we want, and our online presence has become even more prevalent in our identities as humans. Throughout the pandemic, I felt in many ways that I had become my phone, and my phone had also become other people. Follow the White Rabbit questions if we are becoming too reliant on technology. Are we evolving into a simulated reality? Is technology really our friend?
